Jewellery Review: Timothy Roe 'Buttercup' Spinning Ring

Arriving in a textured purple and gold branded bag and concealed in a delicate black box I found the beautiful "Buttercup" Spinning Ring* by Timothy Roe.

This delicate ring is part of the Timothy Roe 'Primo' collection and is made entirely from sterling silver and adorned with a beautifully bright pink flower.

It is pretty enough to wear alone or thin and lightweight enough to group with other Spinning Jewellery rings available on the website. This gives you the ability to create your own unique collection. I really like the rings ability to adapt from a simplistic and dainty solo act to a stacked creation to suit any personality.

The ring comes in sizes XS, S, M and L. I opted for the medium and with great luck it fitted perfectly. Although I did find these size options rather annoying, especially with my childlike chubby little fingers! I definitely would have preferred the more traditional ring sizes.

Amazingly, the 'Buttercup' Spinning Ring is priced at only £19! This shocked me considering the use of the sterling silver and quality and detail of the craftsmanship. These rings are truly a bargain for any jewellery lover!

Timothy Roe offer a huge variety of jewellery, particularly their rings, so do be sure to check out their website for something delightfully feminine!

What do you think of Timothy Roe? What is your favourite ring in the Primo collection?

The Green Fields of France (The Fureys)

An odd set of song lyrics to post but my mother used to sing this to me as a child and it will never leave me.

I think it is truly beautiful.

Well how do you do, young Willie McBride?
Do you mind if I sit here down by your graveside,
And rest for a while 'neath the warm summer sun?
I've been walking all day, and I'm nearly done.
I see by your gravestone you were only nineteen
When you joined the great fall-in in Nineteen-Sixteen.
I hoped you died well, and I hoped you died clean,
Or young Willie McBride, was it slow and obscene?

Did they beat the drums slowly,
Did they play the fife lowly,
Did they sound the death march as they lowered you down?
Did the band play the last post and chorus,
And did the pipes play the flowers of the forest?

Did you leave any wife or a sweetheart behind?
In some faithful heart, is your memory enshrined?
Although you died back in Nineteen-Sixteen,
In that faithful heart are you forever nineteen?
Or are you a stranger without even a name,
Enclosed in forever behind the glass frame
In an old photograph torn, battered and bent,
And faded to yellow in a brown, leather frame

The sun now it shines on the green fields of France.
There's a warm, summer breeze that makes the red poppies dance.
And look how the sun shines from under the clouds:
There's no gas, no barbed wire; there's no guns firing down
But here in this graveyard, it's still no mans land,
The countless white crosses stand mute in the sand,
To a man's blind indifference to his fellow man,
To a whole generation that were butchered and damned

Ah, young Willie McBride, I can't help wonder why,
To those that lie here, now why did they die?
And did they believe when they answered the call,
Did they really believe that this war would end war?
Well, the sorrows, the suffering, the glory, the pain,
The killing and dying was all done in vain.
For young Willie McBride, it all happened again,
And again and again and again and again!

Did they beat the drums slowly,
Did they play the fife lowly,
Did they sound the death march as they lowered you down?
Did the band play the last post and chorus,
And did the pipes play the flowers of the forest?

Beauty Review: Kleenex Facial Cleansing Range

Kleenex is a brand you would associate with runny noses and a hatred for the seasons. So, when I found out they had created a beauty inspired 'Facial Cleansing' range I found myself to be very excited. Everyone loves something new from a well-known and respected brand.
The collection includes Facial Cleansing Wipes, Eye Makeup Removal Wipes, Facial Cloths and Shine Absorbing Sheets. Everything you need to keep your face in tip top condition before or after your daily make up routine.

Facial Cleansing Wipes
These impressed me for numerous reasons. Firstly, they are huge! Much bigger than your conventional high street wipes. I don't know how much make up Kleenex believe people to wear but this honestly could clean the faces of a household. The wipes are also quilted, offering a more vigorous clean while remaining super soft as they are being made from natural and thus more environmentally friendly fibers. The wipes are even suitable for those with sensitive skin!

Eye Makeup Removal Wipes
These work in pretty much the same way as the Facial Cleansing Wipes and worked wonders on removing stubborn mascara and eye liner.

Facial Cloths
These cloths feel heavenly upon the face, they really are "cotton soft" and extremely gentle on the face. They are much larger than conventional facial cloths leaving more space to get rid of all the daily grime (lucky us eh!). They can be used wet or dry and for a variety of reasons, be it for use with toner, cleanser or even removing your nail varnish!

Shine Absorbing Sheets
I have never used shine reducing products before. Having dry skin I have never really had the need to. However, I wanted to look at the range as a whole and I was shocked at the results. You use a purple sheen side to blot your face, ridding it of oil and aiding your make up into submission. In my horror, after using the sheet I was left to find a very noticeable colour difference! It goes to show, you never really know the condition your face is in until you use products like these! I will be using them on a regular basis now and hopefully will be shine free in no time!

What do you think of the Kleenex Facial Cleansing Range?

Beauty Review: November JolieBox

JolieBox time again! This November we are graced with six products, some a tad peculiar in a glorified beauty box but I will let you be the judge:

Yardley Royal English Daisy Eau de Toilette (1ml)Yardley London products are classics and I just adore this fragrance. It is so fresh and simple, like the daisy itself. It has a warm feminine scent, lovely and lasting on the skin. Its top notes are of green leaves and apple, the heart of hyacinth and white rose. The base keeps the scent strong with the earthy sandal wood and the prominent musk, this truly is a scent reminiscent of "traditional English gardens".

Jane Iredale Glow Time BB CreamI am not a big fan of BB cream and the miracle coverage they promise. I received this in shade BB5 and although the colour was flawless, I just did not like the application or feel of my skin once it was on! However, a little goes a long way and this sachet could be used for quite a few applications. It also contains SPF25 to protect your skin from the worsening elements!

Dead Sea Spa Magik Gentle Cleansing Facial Wash (25ml)I always love a good facial wash and this foamy cream works wonders. It has a very pleasing fresh scent and left my skin feeling wonderful with the help of all its lovely natural ingredients. It can be used to remove the dirt and grime of the day and also fights against bacteria, ridding you of "blemishes, spots and blackheads".

Topicrem Body Glitter 3D Effect (15ml)This is VERY glittery, a wonderful array of pink and silver sparkles, just perfect for nighttime events, be it clubbing or festive parties. It proves a little bit impractical for day use however, and I am not overly fond of the smell of the product. The shimmery sheen it gives is impressive, intense and lasting.

Marvis Classic Strong Cinnamon and Mint Toothpaste (12ml)This has got to be one of the most interesting products I have ever received in a beauty box and I love it. This cinnamon and mint flavoured, vintage-looking tubed wonder is imported from Italy. These toothpastes with their oh so peculiar flavour, promise to "make brushing your teeth anything but routine". The cinnamon proved shockingly hot as I began to brush, as this subsided, it left my mouth feeling refreshed and clean. These toothpastes contain fluoride so are suitable for using daily. Although delicious, I think I will stick to traditional mint!

Vertumne à Vénus Manucure Absolue - Moisturising & Regenerating Hand Cream (12ml)As you can see in the photographs anticipation got the better of me with this sachet sample. The cream had a refreshing citrus smell, probably from the pomegranate contained within it. It proved very absorbent and left a noticeable feel upon the skin after use. Impressively, it contains 100% natural ingredients, of which 80% are organic. The combination of vitamins, sesame oil and pomegranate extract promises to keep "hands nourished all day".

Overall, I really liked this box, especially with the addition of the Yardley perfume sample and Dead Sea Spa Magik Gentle Cleansing Facial Wash. I would like to see more make up products within JolieBox though. JolieBox is a subscription based beauty box offering a selection of branded products monthly for only £10 (plus £2.95 postage and packaging).

Did you get the November edition of the JolieBox? What are your thoughts of the products within?

Food Review: Cybercandy Cupcake and Darth Vader Mints

So today we have one for the boys and one for the girls.

Sexual stereotypes aside, lets get on to how amazing these mints are. We have the Cybercandy Cupcake* and the Star Wars Darth Vader mints.

Firstly, we shall begin with my personal favourite in the taste war, the Cupcake mints! These certainly make a sweet treat and come as blue, pink and white "frosting flavoured" pellets. These delicious mints are not just adorable, they are also incredibly moreish and will be gone within a couple of hours of nibbling, I guarantee it! They really do make the perfect gift for that someone sweet in your life, or even yourself (you know you deserve it)!

Next, we have the Star Wars themed Darth Vader mints, in the shape of the Dark Lord of the Sith himself. These Vader shaped mints are definitely not sweet (much like Vader in most respects) and come with a refreshing mint kick. I honestly love these for the tin alone, who doesn't want Vader's face lying around their room to freak out any who dares to touch their candy!

Which mints would you prefer? What would you store in the tins afterwards?

Jewellery Review: Cutey Charm Bracelets

Who doesn't love charm bracelets?

I was delighted when I came across the following collection by Cutey. Cutey is a small company that sell a range of  beautiful charm and shamballa bracelets. I chose the Aether and Typhon charm bracelets*.

They say: "Our pieces feel weighty and expensive" and this is certainly true. The quality of the bracelet is amazing and each is adorned with a beautiful variety of colourful and silver charms.

The Aether is based upon the mythological Greek "God of the upper heaven, the sky, the lightest of all air". It is a very girly bracelet, smothered in pink glass and silver charms. At the heart of the bracelet sits a silver bird charm, small and free to fly across the world, a lovely thought for anyone with big dreams.

The Typhon offers a less girly bracelet, with a mix of bright blue, yellow and pink textured glass beads. Even with its unique look it maintains a girly essence though the addition of a silver handbag charm, shopping and the need for discovery always at a girls heart.

Cutey charm bracelets are available in 2 sizes: 18cm and 20cm, you can even swap the beads around to create your own favourite looks! Each of the above is astonishingly only £12.99.

I love the huge selection of colours offered by Cutey and the variety of the different silver charms. Each charm bracelet also features a silver charm printed with "Cutey".

The bracelets are beautiful and at £12.99 are amazing against similar competitors without losing a bit of quality! They feel expensive with their assortment of weighty charms (all included in the price of the bracelet, no need to pay for them separately!) and deep colours.

Pick up a Cutey bracelet for that someone special in the up and coming festive season!

What do you think of Cutey? Which charm bracelet is your favourite?

Daily Buys: Pink Satchel

So I was wandering around 'The Lanes' in Leicester and came across an amazing independant vintage shop called 'Voodoo Clothing'.

Although the bank is not as healthy as it used to be I could not resist. Walking inside, I was immediately greeted by a shelf of wonderfully colourful satchels.

With such a variety it was hard to choose so I decided upon this baby pink one, large enough to hold all my university contents but thin enough to avoid lugging around the usual bulky bag.

It was also only £23 and for the size and quality of the bag I am seriously impressed!

It has a card holder in the front, a smaller pocket underneath the secured flap and a large amount of space inside. The strap is long and adjustable with a wonderful feel to it. It also boasts a top handle for when you need to grab it in a rush. It feels extremely well-made and stitched.

I just adore this bag! I am so happy with my purchase. Especially considering I was going to pay a lot
more for a similar satchel!

What do you think of my new satchel? Be sure to keep checking those independant stores for hidden gems!
